For many students, success in public
school is often elusive.
As a result, they become alienated socially and fail to thrive
academically. In some cases, students drop out of school completely.
With
or without a learning disorder, many students have a need for
individualized attention.
Indeed,
many
students have specific needs that are not being adequately accommodated
within the public school system.
If there is truly
to be no child left
behind, parents and students must have options. The Academy for Cooperative Learning (A.C.E.)
works to develop a curriculum and an environment
that fit the needs of our students.
A.C.E. offers
comprehensive assessment from an academic,
behavioral and psychosocial perspective. We identify learning styles,
strengths and weaknesses and then design a learning contract that meets
both the needs of the student and the Maine Learning Results.
Paraphrasing
prominent Psychologist Dr Ross Greene, “kids will do
well if they
can.” We
will endeavor dilligently to determine what the student needs
to be successful in school and in preparation for college or the world
of work. |
