Multi-Disciplinary, Developmental and Behavioral (MDDB) Clinic

The Constellations Multi-Disciplinary, Developmental and Behavioral (MDDB) Clinic is slated to open December 15th, 2011. We are currently accepting referrals for children ages (4-20).

What is the MDDB Clinic ?

Clients undergo between 4 and 14 hours of assessment by a team of professionals resulting in an evaluation of social interaction, communication, stereotyped patterns of behavior and includes evaluation of other associated developmental and behavioral problems.

The assessment and evaluation process is directed by a psychiatrist who determines the necessary components of the assessment. The team may consist of one or more of the following disciplines, Psychiatrist; and either a Licensed Psychologist or a Psychological Examiner, a Clinical Professional Counselor, a Speech Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, Registered Nurse and Audiologist.

The Developmental and Behavioral Evaluation components may include a Psychosocial Assessment, a Psychological Evaluation and testing, clinically appropriate interviews and observations scales to assess for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Mental Health Disorder and Behavioral problems in general.

The Developmental and Behavioral Evaluation team consults to summarize the member’s functional strengths and limitations to establish diagnosis (es) and to prepare recommendations for treatment or service.

The Developmental and Behavioral Evaluation team communicates its findings to the parent or guardian and if clinically appropriate, the member. The findings are also summarized in a written report provided to the parent or guardian.

Specific outcomes may include:

Prioritizing needs and goals.

Determining the degree of preparedness for making the changes required to meet desired goals.

Identifying specific strengths and resources as they relate to achieving

goals.

Recognizing the psychological and practical barriers to successfully

achieving goals.

·

Distinguishing specific intelligence types and

learning styles, so treatment will be most effective and efficient.

Determining the behavioral/developmental benchmarks to which the client

must aspire in order to meet desired goals.
