In
order to comply with State Guidelines, students enrollee in The Academy
will be required to complete 891 learning-hours over the course of the
school year.
The school year at the Academy is 33 weeks. We expect students to be
engaged in active learning for 27 hours per week.
The Academy School relies on a cooperative model that promotes
parental/caring adult involvement in the
student's education. Our model of cooperative learning works to keep
the
cost of privte education down and builds a sense of community.
Students attend classes 16 per week. A mentor, proctor or teacher will
be available to assist students in fullfilling their learning
individualized goals. In addition, group/class activity and
participation will be strongly encouraged.
Students will be able to complete 11 hours weekly of independent study,
supervised by their academic adivsor.
Caring adults of each student are expected to contribute aproximatly 2
hours weekly to school operations, with a maximum of 4 hours a week
expected. Contributions can consist of mentoring, teaching or
proctoring classes, as well as administrative assistance or even fixing
things, cleaning etc. Tasks will be detemined based on skills,
strengths and interests !

State of Maine are eligible
for substantial discounts if
they wish to work at the
school - full or part-time.
