TEEN SCENES offers STRUGGLING TEENS (ages 13-17) the opportunity for personal
growth and creative expression through Video Production – Group Process and
Group Therapy.

Who can apply to Teen
Scenes ?
- Teens with inappropriate
behaviors or poor attitudes, that feels misunderstood, angry, or disconnected
from their emotions all together.
- Those who may benefit from an intensive, 6-week creative
therapy program, connection with an experienced, Licensed Clinical Counselor, a
summer experience that introduces them to a medium for appropriate and
effective expression of how they feel and perceive the world.

Participants will PRODUCE A VIDEO, with
state-of-the-art equipment in the Public Access TV station in Farmington, ME.
Admissions Criteria: Interviews (required) will be
held throughout the month of June and the first week of July. Participation
must agree to abstain from the use of all illicit substances including
marijuana, alcohol and designer drugs during the 6-week program.
* Participants will not receive counseling that specifically
addresses addiction. However, subjects such as drug use, self-medicating and
peer pressure may be addressed.
Cost: $150 per week, paid at each Friday session. Includes
cost for all materials and lunch on Saturday. Part of - or this entire program
- may be reimbursable through you insurance. Call your HMO for information how you
may be reimbursed.

a. News Cast (true-to-life or SNL
style satire)
b. Documentary of “life as a teen”
in Franklin County.
c. A series of Public Service
Announcements
d. A Music Video
- All projects must offer
the viewing audience insight into topics common among struggling teens.

Participants who complete the program will receive a copy
of the final production for their portfolio, certificates of completion for
video production courses, a copy of their Vision Statement with clear goals and
objectives for future success.

Intensive - Group
Therapeutic Processing:
- 2.5
hours in-studio time on Friday evenings and 2.5 hours on Saturdays,
facilitated by a Licensed Clinical Counselor.
- Participants
are challenged to cooperate, think logically, express themselves
appropriately, deal with emotions effectively, meet deadlines, empathize,
control impulsive behavior and communicate effectively.
- Therapeutic
Processing focuses on dealing with issues as they arise. These coping
skills are essential to success in the “real-world.”
Traditional Group Therapy
- 1.5
hours of weekly, group therapy facilitated by a Licensed Clinical
Counselor.
- Participants
will create a Vision Statement that will help them identify their values,
interests and abilities.
- Through
an interactive process that includes role-playing, problem solving and
journaling, they will then identify issues, weaknesses, strengths and
goals related to accomplishing the objectives identified in their
visioning process.
