Outpatient Services

Outpatient Services are professional assessment, counseling, and therapeutic services for children and adults, couples and families, that promote positive orientation, relief of excess stress, and growth toward more integrated and independent levels of functioning. Services are delivered through planned interaction involving the use of psychological techniques, and processes of evaluation and intervention.

Clinicians at Constellations offer evidence-based interventions through individual and group therapy for children, adults and families.

Integrated Brief Therapy

Integrated Brief Therapy (IBT) is a form of intensive psychotherapy. With new laws enacted by the Maine legislature, MaineCare benefits for counseling will be limited. IBT integrates change theory, learning theory & eclectic counseling methods. As such, counseling becomes a most effective and efficient system of practice.
IBT is effective with individuals, couples and families.

School-Based, Family Counseling

School-Based Family Counseling (SBFC) is an integrated approach which combines school counseling with family counseling in a broad systems approach. In its classic form, SBFC is conducted on site at the school and the School-Based Family Counselor that works cooperatively with school personnel.

 Group Therapy
Group therapy at Constellations typically takes the form of experiential therapy. Experiential therapy covers a variety of therapy components including, movement, art, music, naturism and mind/body fitness.

- Experiential therapy helps clients identify skills
through a variety of guided tasks or activities.

- Guided tasks afford clients the opportunity to
build their ability to shift old patterns to new
self-supporting ways of behaving and thinking.

The use of physical actions or movement
connect with a patient’s perceptions,
patterns of thinking and historical beliefs.

- Research has repeatedly demonstrated the
clinical effectiveness
of experiential therapy
across a wide range of diagnoses and
behavioral barriers.

Case Management

This program promotes recovery and integration into the community. Clients are matched with a Case Manager who will help develop an individual support plan (ISP) after identifying and assessing needs and resources.

Case Managers will work with clients within communities or from homes to create an individualized treatment plan and will work to develop goals and methods to reach those goals. Case Managers monitor progress, gain client input of how conditions are improving and what can be done better to enhance the likelihood of positive outcomes as well as c
oordinate referrals for services, monitoring how well services are working, advocate for clients with other resources and providers. They may offer crisis intervention and follow-up as needed, and provide problem-solving supports. Case Managers assist with how to fully use community resources and more fully participate in community life.
